Half a Life

Michel Recanati was one of the leaders of a movement in the Paris of May 1968. He brought groups together, argued, and acted on leftist principles. That work went on both before and after the events. In 1973 he was in prison for a short while. The failure of the demonstrations left him disillusioned. The death of the only woman he had loved fell in the same period. Years of hope and action gave way to a deep collapse. His friend Romain Goupil wrote and directed the documentary. It took the Golden Camera at Cannes in 1982. The award was for best first feature length film. This French documentary of 1982 runs ninety five minutes.
