Hang on, Doggy

Matic lives with his mother in a large neighbourhood of concrete blocks in Ljubljana. His father has been working in Libya for a while, so the flat is theirs alone. His otherwise monotonous life changes when he is chosen to appear in a film. On the shoot he meets Milena, a girl his own age, and takes to her. When the filming is over the production company gives him a present, an enormous black dog. His mother is not exactly pleased, but Matic brings it home. The real adventures begin from there. The film gives childhood not as a story of lost innocence but as the upsetting of a daily order. Jane Kavčič’s ninety four minute Slovenian film was completed in 1977.
