Life

Hicran is forced by her father into an engagement with Rıza and runs away from home. Rıza does not care much at first, since he thinks she never wanted him anyway. But as time passes it starts to touch his pride and he decides to find her. He goes to Istanbul after a fiancée he has seen only once. The search drags on, and the more Rıza looks the more his own life changes. Zeki Demirkubuz wrote and directed this three hour film, which takes place in the world he is known for: closed rooms, long silences, people trapped inside their own decisions. The telling does not present Rıza's search as something romantic; it leaves the line between obsession and love unclear. Miray Daner plays Hicran and Burak Dakak plays Rıza. The film was Turkey's Oscar submission for 2025.
