What Heavyweights Is About
Children who have started to like the summer camp they were sent to for weight loss face it changing hands. The new owner is a fitness presenter and his programme is merciless. The film does not resolve the question of weight inside the camp; the narrative makes the children's solidarity its subject and shows the new regime plainly as bullying. Ben Stiller's character is as menacing as he is funny. Steven Brill directed and wrote it with Judd Apatow. It is a Disney production. Before watching: it contains jokes about children's bodies, some of which land badly now. The narrative stands against the bullying while its language is the language of its period.
