High Strung Free Dance

A Broadway musical is being prepared in New York. Barlow, a young dancer, lands the first big job of her career. She is caught between Charlie, a pianist working on the same production, and Zander, the director. As rehearsals proceed, work and relationships tangle. Michael Damian directed and wrote with Janeen Damian. It counts as a sequel to High Strung from 2016 though the story stands alone. Dance is at the centre and the choreography was worked with professional dancers; the rehearsals and the final performance are the best sections. The story runs the triangle template directly and leaves no room for surprise. The structure the music and dance genre has kept since the nineties applies here too: talent, opportunity, conflict and a closing show. Who it is for: viewers who like dance films and backstage stories. Who it is not for: anyone after an original narrative; the plot is entirely familiar.
