What Hilda and the Mountain King Is About
Hilda wakes one morning inside a troll's body and inside the mountain, while at home there is a troll child in her shape and her mother cannot tell the difference. Trying to get out, Hilda sees how the trolls live and learns what the community everyone in the city calls monsters actually is. Andy Coyle built it as the continuation of the series adapted from Luke Pearson's graphic novels and starts where the series left off. It has the form of children's animation but genuinely uses horror, and the ending is darker than expected. The colour palette and the design of the mountain are the best visual work in the series. It went out on Netflix. Who it is for: viewers of the Hilda series and anyone who likes darker-toned children's animation. Who it is not for: newcomers, since the film does not introduce its characters.
