Homecoming

After the First World War two German soldiers escape following a long imprisonment. The place they get out of is a lead mine in Siberia. Karl and Richard set out together, but Karl reaches Germany first. The person who takes Karl in is Anna, Richard’s wife. While Richard is still on the road something begins between Karl and Anna. Then Richard comes home. Three people stand at the centre of the account and all three are tied to the same house. The film is about the impasse that returning after a war creates. Lars Hanson and Dita Parlo take the leads, with Gustav Fröhlich also in the cast, in Joe May’s German film of 1928.
