What Homerun Is About
Two children of a poor family set up a hard arrangement when the sister’s only pair of shoes is lost: they wear the same shoes in turn to go to and from school and tell no one about it. To make up for what he lost, the brother enters a running race; one of the prizes is a pair of shoes, and he decides he has to win it. The account is set in the Singapore countryside of the sixties and puts the children’s world beside the politics of the adults. Jack Neo’s hundred and eight minute Singaporean film is a remake of the Iranian production Children of Heaven; Megan Zheng and Shawn Lee appear. It was completed in 2003.
