What I Not Stupid Too Is About
Set in Singapore, the film follows three young people who are at odds with their parents: fifteen year old Tom, his eight year old brother Jerry, and Tom’s friend Chengcai. Nobody at home listens to anybody; the parents talk about marks and success, and the children look for a response elsewhere. The film gives this through satire and comedy, and then raises the dose until the audience is cornered. A sequel to a film from 2002, the production goes directly at the education system and at how families talk to their children. Jack Neo’s hundred and twenty four minute Singaporean film was completed in 2006.
