Hooked on You

Twenty seven year old Miu takes over a fish stall in a Hong Kong wet market to clear the debts her father has run up. She sets herself a three year plan: before she turns thirty she will pay off the debt, leave the market and find a man worth her while. But the years pass, the stall stays where it is, and Miu is slow to see what the thing between her and the fishmonger across the aisle actually is. The film tells the ten years after 1997 through the daily life of these two people and shows the change in the city from inside the market. Law Wing-cheong’s ninety seven minute Hong Kong film was produced by Johnnie To and Milkyway Image; Miriam Yeung plays Miu and Eason Chan the man opposite her. It was completed in 2007.
