What Little Q Is About
Little Q is being trained as a guide dog. The person she is paired with is Bo-ting, a celebrated pastry chef who is losing his sight and refuses to accept it, and who is furious with everyone around him, the dog included. The dog's persistence outlasts the man's stubbornness, and then the years pass. Knowing that this is an adaptation of the Japanese film Quill sets expectations correctly: it covers a dog's entire life, so it is not hard to guess where it is heading. Simon Yam keeps Bo-ting unlikeable for long enough that the film earns some of its feeling.
