What Hope Frozen: A Quest To Live Twice Is About
A Buddhist scientist in Bangkok decides, after his two year old daughter Einz dies of brain cancer, to have her brain preserved by freezing. The American Alcor foundation carried out the procedure, and Einz became the youngest person ever cryopreserved. The decision caused a great deal of argument in Thailand. Pailin Wedel's documentary stays with the family inside that decision and after it, with the tension between faith and science at the centre. What it describes is a family caught between mourning and waiting. The film won at Hot Docs, and with it Wedel became the first Thai director to win an International Emmy.
