What How to Frame a Figg Is About

Hollis Figg is the least capable bookkeeper in town, which is exactly why the men who run city hall decide he is useful. They buy a second-hand computer to bury their financial arrangements and put Figg in charge of it, confident he will never work out what he is looking at. The plan collapses the moment he starts taking himself seriously, because in the middle of all that self-importance he stumbles onto the whole scheme. Don Knotts developed the story with producer Edward Montagne, and the film, directed by Alan Rafkin and released on 1 February 1971, closed out the five-picture contract Knotts had signed with Universal. Elaine Joyce, Joe Flynn and Yvonne Craig fill out the cast.
