What Hungry for Change Is About
The documentary makes a case against the diet and food industries: the sugar, salt and additives in packaged food are calibrated not to fill you but to leave you hungry again. Nutritionists, doctors and people who have lost weight speak on camera. The remedy it proposes is to drop processed food, go back to fresh fruit and vegetables, and cleanse the body on a regular basis. James Colquhoun directs; eighty-nine minutes. It follows Food Matters from the same team. The film's argument about processed food and sugar lines up broadly with nutrition research. Its cleanse and detox regimes have no such support; a healthy liver and kidneys already do that work, and no clinical benefit for these regimes has been demonstrated. Some of the people speaking in the film also sell the products in question.
