I Am Another You

Nanfu Wang is a director who came to America from China. In a hostel in Florida she meets a young man. Dylan is twenty two. He had a comfortable home and a family in Utah. He left all of it to live on the street. He does it by choice and not out of need. Wang sets off travelling with him. Where they stay is the street and empty buildings. This is how the young man describes freedom. At first the director finds that attitude beguiling. Then she begins to see what it costs. Further into the journey the question of mental health enters the story. When she speaks to his family the story goes somewhere else. The eighty minute documentary asks where freedom ends, an American production Nanfu Wang finished in 2017.
