What I Want You Back Is About
Two people dumped in the same week meet on the stairs of their building and plan together to break up their exes' new relationships. Once the plan starts working, it makes both of them uneasy. The film makes bad intentions the engine of the comedy without punishing its characters; the narrative is really interested in the two of them discovering what being comfortable with someone is. It is dialogue-heavy and the rapport between the leads carries it. Jason Orley directed, with Charlie Day and Jenny Slate. Who it's for: those who like adult romantic comedy and two-hander films. Who it's not for: viewers looking for surprise; the film shows its route from the start.
