What I'll Give a Million Is About

A rich man who can see that everyone around him has an eye on his money starts to wonder whether anyone is left who does a kindness expecting nothing back. After pulling a tramp out of the water he swaps places with him and promises a million to whoever shows him that kindness. Once the notice goes out, the whole city throws itself into a contest of counterfeit generosity. Mario Camerini’s white telephone comedy also starts the partnership of Vittorio De Sica and Assia Noris. The screenplay is by Cesare Zavattini, in his first work for the screen; it was awarded at Venice.
