What In Orange Is About
Joram Lürsen's 2004 Dutch film follows Remco, eleven years old. He is a gifted footballer and his one dream is a place in the national under-twelve squad. His father Erik is both his coach and his loudest supporter, a man certain he knows better than everyone and shouting it from the touchline. When Erik dies suddenly, the boy stops playing. From there the film puts grief and ambition on the same pitch and follows Remco starting again with help from directions he had not expected. Wendy van Dijk plays his mother Sylvia. It passed a hundred thousand admissions in the Netherlands and took a Golden Film award.
