Family Way

Every member of the De Roover family has arrived at a point where a choice has to be made. Winnie wants a child. Her husband Rutmer is trying to reach his own feelings. Rutmer's brother Charlie wants no responsibility of any kind. Their brother-in-law Dick wants his dead wife back. Arend, the head of the family, just wants to be happy. And Jeannette, the mother, wants somebody to want her. Joram Lürsen directs this Dutch comedy, with Carice van Houten, Thijs Römer and Jacob Derwig. It runs over two hours and six separate family stories keep tangling into one another. None of these wishes is easy, and the film does not make any of them easier.
