What India Is About

Heinzi Bösel and Kurt Fellner inspect restaurants for the state of Austria. Neither can stand the other, but the job puts them in the same car. They work their way through the country inns of Lower Austria, looking at kitchens, reciting the regulations, talking on the road. In time the dislike gives way to something else. Then something serious happens to one of them, and only at that point does the friendship become clear for what it is. Paul Harather's film came out of the stage play written by Josef Hader and Alfred Dorfer, who play the two men. Austria submitted it for the Academy Awards. It starts in the register of cabaret and by the end of the road arrives somewhere else entirely.
