It's a Hard Life

Luciano Bianchi is an intellectual living in a provincial town with his wife and son. An explosion at the mine back home kills forty-three workers. Bianchi decides somebody will answer for it: he will go to Milan and blow up the skyscraper belonging to the company that runs the mine. He gets to Milan. But the city draws him in by degrees. Translation work, writing work, rent, habits. The idea of the bomb moves a little further off every day. Carlo Lizzani directs, with Ugo Tognazzi and Giovanna Ralli. It is adapted from Luciano Bianciardi's novel of the same name. What it describes is how an anger goes out not by being crushed but simply by being worn down.
