Jack & Sarah

Everything has always gone Jack's way: the job, the house, the woman he loves. Then Sarah goes into labour and his life splits in two. She dies, and he is left with a baby daughter. He drinks his way through the first stretch of it, then finds himself caught between the baby, the office and both sets of grandparents. Hiring Amy, an American waitress he meets in a cafe, as the nanny does not simplify anything. Tim Sullivan's British comedy keeps grief and childcare inside the same story. Richard E. Grant is Jack and Samantha Mathis is Amy, with Judi Dench and Eileen Atkins as the grandmothers.
