Imagine Me & You

Imagine Me & You (2006) is a light romantic comedy that built a small and loyal following, and it is still one people return to when they want comfort. Rachel is walking down the aisle when she sees Luce, the florist, in the crowd. Something passes between them and they both know it. Rachel marries anyway, becomes friends with Luce, and has to admit she is in love with her despite being happy with her husband. What sets it apart is that it refuses to give anyone a villain. Matthew Goode as the husband is decent, funny and wronged through no fault of his own. That turns the story from an easy choice into an actual dilemma. Piper Perabo and Lena Headey carry it. Anyone who knows Headey from Game of Thrones will find a completely different energy here. It runs 93 minutes and goes down easily. The London locations give it a pleasant texture. Good for: romantic comedy, optimistic LGBT stories, and mid two thousands British cinema. Good at the end of a difficult day. Less good for: anyone wanting realism or complication. Several things resolve far too neatly.
