Tessa is seventeen, has acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and treatment is no longer changing anything. She writes a list of how to spend the time left. Her friend Zoey takes the list seriously. Adam, the neighbour next door, brings the thing that is not on it. Tessa decides to stop chemotherapy, and her father is the one who cannot accept it. Ol Parker directed. The source is Jenny Downham's 2007 novel Before I Die. Dakota Fanning plays Tessa, Jeremy Irvine plays Adam, Paddy Considine the father, Olivia Williams the mother and Kaya Scodelario plays Zoey. The notable thing is that Fanning plays it in an English accent; the story is set in England and she works in the accent throughout. The reviews were lukewarm. The Guardian gave two stars and said the film never rises above a collection of cliches. Empire gave three and noted that Considine and Williams outshine the younger cast. Rotten Tomatoes sits at 58 percent across 26 reviews. It opened in Britain in September 2012 and took 2.3 million dollars. Who it is for: viewers who like young adult illness drama and want to see Considine and Williams as the parents. Who it is not for: anyone hoping to avoid the shape of the genre. The film follows list, love and farewell in exactly the expected order.
