Jealous like a Cat

The wife of a rich industrialist has had enough of a husband who takes no interest in her at all. Together with her cousin she sets up a game; the aim is to make the man jealous and so bring him back home. But the game soon slips out of the hands of those who set it up, and everyone gets rather too caught up in his own part. The film treats jealousy not as a feeling but as a tool used inside a marriage, and works with the moulds of Greek comedy of the mid fifties. What the woman really wants is not to make him jealous but to be seen, and the film gets that across without saying it outright. Vasilis Logothetidis and Ilia Livykou appear in Yorgos Tzavellas’s hundred and four minute Greek film, completed in 1956.
