What Jellyfish Is About

Three women's stories cross in Tel Aviv. Batya waits tables for a catering company; on the beach she finds a small girl standing alone with nobody claiming her, and takes her in. Keren is a bride; on her wedding day she breaks her leg trying to get out of a locked toilet stall, which puts an end to a honeymoon in the Caribbean. Joy is a Filipina carer; she has no Hebrew, cannot make herself understood in the house where she works, and carries the guilt of the son she left in the Philippines. For one moment the three of them are in the same room at the same wedding. Shira Geffen and Etgar Keret wrote and directed it together. Eighty-two minutes. It won the Caméra d'Or for a first film at Cannes in 2007.
