What Jeremy Is About
Jeremy studies cello at an arts high school in New York. He is shy, awkward and unsure of himself. At school he sees Susan, who is preparing for a ballet audition, and falls for her. He cannot bring himself to approach her and asks a friend for advice. Susan is not interested at first, but changes her mind when she hears him play. Arthur Barron's American film tells first love without dressing it up: not being able to speak, saying the wrong thing, and then everything suddenly falling into place. Robby Benson and Glynnis O'Connor take the leads and both were genuinely young at the time. The film was shot on the streets of New York. Music and silence are its main material.
