Jimmy Carr What Jimmy Carr: Natural Born Killer Is About
Jimmy Carr's 2024 set is built on a defence of his own idea of comedy. He has long been known for joking about subjects treated as taboo, and here he works through gun control, religion, consent and cancel culture in turn. The method does not change: short setup, hard punchline, his own laugh. In the second half he talks about his trade and argues that who a joke targets matters, though how well his own material meets that standard is debatable. His direct relationship with the audience and the unscripted stretches are the liveliest part. It runs about an hour. Who it's for: viewers who like hard stand-up that respects no taboo. Who it's not for: anyone uncomfortable with jokes about sensitive subjects; the whole show rests on them.
