Journeys with George

Alexandra Pelosi was a producer at a television network. She was assigned to cover the 2000 election campaign. She took a small camera with her. She filmed for eighteen months. The candidate she was following was George W. Bush. Buses, planes and primary stops make up the route. The press pack is part of the cast. The film shows the candidate off the platform. There is joking with reporters. There are conversations on long overnight legs, and one to one talks between Pelosi and the candidate. It is also a picture of the reporting trade itself, and the relation between the press and the man they cover becomes the real subject. The film went out on HBO in November 2002 and won an Emmy. Karl Rove and Tom Brokaw also appear in the seventy nine minute film, an American production Aaron Lubarsky and Alexandra Pelosi finished in 2002.
