What Just Eat It: A Food Waste Story Is About
Grant Baldwin's 2014 documentary follows food that gets thrown away. The director and Jenny Rustemeyer give up grocery shopping entirely for a period and try to live only on discarded food. Along the way they look at every link in the chain, from the field to the shop to the back of their own fridge: vegetables left unpicked for looking imperfect, what a use-by date actually means, what the shelf itself does. The film's claim is that close to half of the food produced ends up in the bin. They make the case starting from their own kitchen rather than in the language of blame.
