What Just Like Our Parents Is About

Rosa is in her late thirties, lives in Sao Paulo with two children, and is trying to be everything expected of her at once: a good mother, a good wife, a working woman, her own mother's daughter. One day her mother tells her something unexpected about her father, and a question she had never thought to ask opens up. Lais Bodanzky builds the film across three generations: the mothers who fought the dictatorship, their daughters, and the grandchildren growing up now. The title comes from a Belchior song which says exactly that, that whatever we do we end up like our parents.
