Nandagopan is a respected dance teacher. He works at an arts institution in Kerala. The place keeps the temple arts alive. Then his wife Sumangala takes her own life. He comes apart after the loss. He turns to drink. He begins breaking rules openly. People around him talk as though he killed her. He is suspended from his post over his behaviour when drunk. The institution’s new secretary, Velayudhan, wants him out altogether, and only his old standing holds that off for a while. Meanwhile he finds a gifted student named Malavika. He trains her for a large work of his own called Sita Kalyanam, and her jealous young lover Soman comes between them. Mohanlal and Monisha Unni appear in the hundred and forty three minute film, an Indian production Sibi Malayil finished in 1992.
