Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal

Siddharth and Kallis run online frauds. They set up false call centres, tell people they have won prizes and collect money. The work grows. Then they meet two women. Meera and Sathya seem to be living ordinary lives. The four spend time together and the two men decide to give the business up. There will be one last job: a jewellery shop. The plan is prepared. Then something happens and everything seen until then takes on another meaning. Desingh Periyasamy writes and directs. Dulquer Salmaan plays Siddharth and Ritu Varma plays Meera; Rakshan and Niranjani Ahathian are in the cast. The language is Tamil. The film opened in 2020 and went to streaming during the pandemic. Its form turns; in the last section the premise is rearranged and the earlier scenes read differently. The matter it treats is trust; both sides are lying and neither knows it. The film joins the heist shape to romantic comedy and the first half runs entirely light. The narrative shows the method of the fraud in detail; the call centre scenes are realistic. The music is by Harshavardhan Rameshwar and the songs set the rhythm. The narrative changes kind in the second half and the pace rises. Its limit is length; the first half is long, the turn comes late, and the ending is too tidy. Who it is for: viewers who like Tamil cinema and heist narratives that turn. Who it is not for: it is long, slow in the first half, and the ending easy.
