Karnan

The film tells the story of Karna from the Mahabharata. The account begins with Kunti. Kunti sets her baby afloat on the river. A charioteer and his wife find the child. They adopt him and give him the name Karna. Karna grows up without knowing his own descent. He becomes a brave and loyal archer. He then joins the side of the Kauravas. At Kurukshetra he fights against the Pandavas. But those he faces are his own brothers. He goes into the battle without knowing it. The account is built on the tragedy of that ignorance. Sivaji Ganesan and N.T. Rama Rao take the leads, with Savitri, Devika and S. A. Asokan also in the cast, in B. Ramakrishnaiah Panthulu’s Tamil film of 1964.
