In an alpine valley lies a small and quiet village. Above it, on the two sides of a gorge, two men live. One is Kosobrin, a kindly herbalist; the other is Bedanec, a poacher the villagers fear. A young girl named Mojca serves in Bedanec’s house, and when she tells Kosobrin how she lives, the old man gives her shelter in his hut. The boy Kekec is not afraid of Bedanec and goes to find the people he keeps in his house. The film was made for a young audience, but it tells about fear as well. The account builds good and evil in the order of a folk tale. The work is one of the early films of Slovenian cinema. The work is adapted from the mountain stories of Josip Vandot. The ninety seven minutes take place in a single valley. Matija Barl and Zdenka Logar appear in Jože Gale’s Yugoslav film, completed in 1951.
