The documentary follows the climber Chris Sharma. Sharma is looking for the hardest routes in the world. He goes from boulders in South America to the limestone walls of Europe. Wherever he goes he picks the hardest and the most spectacular line. Then off the coast of Mallorca he finds something: an arch of rock rising out of the sea, over twenty metres high. It is called Es Pontàs and it is climbed without a rope; a fall means the water. At the centre of the film is the first ascent of that route. The work won an Emmy for its camera work. Peter Mortimer and Josh Lowell’s documentary, fifty five minutes long, was completed in 2007.
