What Krantiveer Is About
Pratap Narayan Tilak, out of work and given to drink, pulls himself together after meeting the journalist Megha Dixit and begins calling on the people of his neighbourhood to defend their rights. What stands against him is not only the police and powerful politicians but his own neighbours. Unable to bear the injustice and unable to move anyone, the man finally takes the law into his own hands, and what follows is disorder, violence and uncertainty for everybody. The film uses the angry man mould so common in Indian cinema of the nineties, but it does not leave its hero as a winner. Nana Patekar and Dimple Kapadia appear in Mehul Kumar’s hundred and fifty nine minute film, completed in 1994.
