Tirangaa

Harish witnesses the murder of his father and decides to take revenge. But his plan comes apart before it starts: the mafia boss who killed his father frames him, and the young man has to defend himself instead. What follows is an effort both to prove the truth and to settle the account. The film uses the moulds of nineties Indian action cinema, and the matter rests on the question of whether justice is to be delivered by the state or by the person. The account sets two generations against each other: one wanting to keep to the rules, the other seeing that those rules no longer work. Raaj Kumar and Nana Patekar appear in Mehul Kumar’s hundred and sixty eight minute Indian film, completed in 1993.
