What L7: Pretend We're Dead Is About
The documentary follows the rise, the collapse and the eventual return of L7, one of the hardest bands in the American grunge and punk scene. Formed by four women, the group was playing large halls at the start of the nineties, then lost the interest of the market and of the record companies and dropped out of sight. The account moves through archive material: footage from the road, from backstage and from the studio, one piece after another. What it meant in those years for a rock band to be made of women is also part of the subject, with Courtney Love and Shirley Manson among those who speak. Sarah Price’s eighty eight minute American documentary was completed in 2017.
