What The Yes Men Is About
Two activists set up a fake website that looks like the World Trade Organisation's, and then simply accept the speaking invitations that arrive. That is how they end up in serious conference halls in serious suits, presenting themselves as representatives of the organisation. What they propose grows steadily more grotesque, and the room applauds, takes notes and asks questions. That is the film's real finding: delivered in sufficiently corporate language, the most monstrous proposal sounds reasonable. Made by the American Movie team, it starts as a prank and arrives somewhere fairly bleak about the global economy.
