What La cuccagna Is About
Rossella, the daughter of a working family, looks for work every day. But she soon sees that the economic leap everyone speaks of is for her no more than a promise; the doors do not open, and those that do want something in return. The world is far harsher than she believed. In the meantime she meets Giuliano, the only person who asks nothing of her and who, like her, will not compromise. The film questions the story of Italy growing rich in the early sixties from the side of the young and shows whom that promise never reached. Donatella Turri and Luigi Tenco appear in Luciano Salce’s hundred and four minute Italian film, completed in 1962.
