L'affaire Dumont

Michel Dumont is tried and convicted of a rape he says he did not commit. While he serves his sentence, a bond forms between him and Solange, whom he met during the trial. Solange takes on a very long effort to prove his innocence. Gathering the documents needed to have the case reopened takes her years. In that time it comes out that the complainant had later come to doubt her identification, and that this doubt was never passed to the defence. The case goes to appeal again and the conviction is overturned. Rather than looking for someone to blame for the error, the film tells how hard it is to put a wrong right. The story is taken from a real case in Canada. Marc-André Grondin and Marilyn Castonguay appear in Daniel Grou’s hundred and twenty one minute Canadian film, completed in 2012.
