Lancaster

The documentary is about the Lancaster bomber used in the Second World War. What the account draws on is the last surviving members of its crews. What they say is set alongside archive footage. That archive material was remastered for the purpose. There is also aerial footage shot from the last Lancaster still able to fly. The film treats the aircraft not as a technical object but as a place with people inside it. Most of what is told is what happened on the missions themselves. Charles Dance narrates. The hundred and ten minutes are spread over a long period. The work is by Ant Palmer and David Fairhead, a British documentary completed in 2022.
