Land of Hypocrisy

Masoud is an ordinary clerk. He is unhappy with his life and his job. Things are not good with his wife either. One day he comes across a strange shop. The shop sells character traits. The traits sit on the shelves in the form of pills. Masoud starts with the good ones. Honesty and courage land him in trouble. He moves on to the pill of hypocrisy. That one works. Masoud rises quickly. He steers the people around him as he likes. After a while he tries the pill of plain speaking. He loses his wife, his job and his standing. In the end he tips a sack of truthfulness into the Nile. The film is adapted from a novel by Yusuf Sibai. Fouad Al-Mohandes and Shwikar appear in the one hundred twenty minute film, an Egyptian production Fatin Abdel Wahab finished in 1968.
