Land of Storms

Land of Storms (original title Viharsarok), the debut feature of director Ádám Császi, is a Hungarian-German co-production about a young Hungarian athlete who plays football in Germany, returns home to his grandfather's farm after a falling out, and falls for a stonemason's apprentice from a neighboring village. The film confronts homophobia and intolerance in rural Hungary. It had its world premiere in the Panorama section of the 64th Berlin Film Festival on February 8, 2014, and also screened in the feature competition at the Sarajevo Film Festival. Who it's for: anyone curious about a Hungarian LGBT drama set in a rural region, following an athlete's confrontation with his own identity, which premiered at the Berlinale.
