Leily is with Me

During the Iran-Iraq war a television cameraman does not have the money to finish his half-built flat. A colleague gives him an idea: if he goes to the front and pretends to be shooting a documentary, the loan will come easily. The man is terrified of the war but agrees. When he gets to the front he runs into something other than what he expected. Kamal Tabrizi's Iranian film is counted among the first to tell the war in the shape of a comedy, and it drew a large audience at home. Parviz Parastui takes the lead. The telling neither exalts the war nor belittles it; looking through the eyes of a frightened man, it takes both the people at the front and his own fear seriously. The humour does not mock the character.
