Leo's Room

Leo lives in Montevideo, goes to university, and things with his girlfriend are not working. The problem is obvious enough, but he will not say it to himself. He starts therapy. Around the same time he runs into Caro, whom he knew in primary school and had a crush on as a child. Caro has her own dead end, and the two walk alongside each other without quite seeing what the other is carrying. The film does not race towards a declared moment of decision; it takes exactly as long as Leo needs to put his own sentence together. Enrique Buchichio directs the Uruguayan film; ninety-five minutes, with Martín Rodríguez as Leo and Cecilia Cósero as Caro. It is Buchichio's first feature, and is counted among the first Uruguayan films to put a gay young man's story at the centre.
