What Let's Do It Again Is About

Two working men in Atlanta have taken on the job of raising money for their lodge. Their method is to travel to New Orleans and fix a boxing match by hypnosis, and it does not go as smoothly as they hoped. Sidney Poitier directed and starred in this 1975 film, which is not strictly a sequel to Uptown Saturday Night, the picture he and Bill Cosby made the year before: different names, different city. The same vein runs through it, though, a large cast of Black actors, a comedy that refuses to take crime seriously, and class kept visible in the background. Curtis Mayfield wrote the music and The Staple Singers sang the title song over the opening and the close.
