Life Is Beautiful

A train breaks down on the way. The passengers are forced to spend a day at a remote country tavern. The company in the tavern is a mixed one. There are seasonal farm workers. There are people with no fixed home. There are musicians and men from party circles as well. As the day goes on the tension rises. A truckload of chickens arrives. The chickens are to be killed and cooked for the crowd. Then a few coarse men begin to harass the woman who sings. That behaviour ends in unexpected violence. The account is put together as an allegory. Rade Šerbedžija and Sonja Savić take the leads, with Dragan Nikolić and Pavle Vuisić also in the cast, in Boro Drašković’s Yugoslav film of 1985.
