What Lindenberg! Mach dein Ding Is About
The years before Udo Lindenberg was Udo Lindenberg. He leaves the small Westphalian town of Gronau for Hamburg, drums in jazz bands, plays a dangerous gig at an American base in the Libyan desert, and refuses to let go of an idea nobody around him understands: making rock music in German. The road to the Hamburg concert of 1973 that changed everything is a long one. Hermine Huntgeburth directs, with Jan Bülow as Lindenberg, singing the songs himself. Bülow won the Bavarian Film Prize for the part and was nominated at the German Film Awards, where the film took the prizes for make-up and costume design.
